Keffelew <br />/ <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman St, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Dear Mr. Keffelew, <br />ir'" <br />COLORADO PARKS & WILDLIFE <br />s. <br />/116/ <br />6060 Broadway • Denver, Colorado 80216 <br />Phone (303) 297 -1192 <br />wildlife.state.co.us • parks.state.co.us <br />.twie2 V ef <br />40 <br />Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has reviewed your request for comments regarding <br />wildlife impacts from the permitting of the Crystal Springs Ranch, Hansel Pit #1 regular <br />construction materials permit at the following location: <br />- Section 31, Township 7N, Range 47W in Phillips County. <br />A site visit to the location was conducted and it has been determined that there will be no <br />significant impacts to local wildlife species or wildlife habitats. <br />If during construction wildlife species, dens or nests are encountered we recommend that you <br />contact the local District Wildlife Manager or a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office as soon <br />as possible to avoid the accidental take of that species. CPW also recommends that proper <br />measures be taken to prevent the establishment and spread of noxious weeds during the life <br />of the gravel mine. When the mine is no longer in use we recommend that you contact the <br />local Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) field office for suggestions regarding seed <br />mixes and proper re- vegetation methodologies. <br />On behalf of CPW, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on <br />these projects.
