STATE OF COLORAD
Dividion of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
08 -07 -12
The loss of my home and all my belongings in the Four Mile canyon fire has been a
devastating experience. It has left me with a difficult and time consuming effort to
recover my bearings and re -align my priorities.
While the mine proper was not damaged to any great extent, the mess left by the Public
Service and Quest (now Century Link) in replacing poles and cutting down trees in the
mine area has been a time consuming job.
The security fence around the active area affords me a place to store the crusher,
pulveriser and other mine related tools and equipment that were at my residence and were
damaged in the fire. Since I no longer reside there, the security of a fence with locked
gate is protection against theft.
Plans are still in the works to proceed with limited mining if an ATF powder permit can
be obtained. I haven't wanted to store explosives if I wasn't in immediate need of them
and therefore, in light of the terroist threat and the crazy people that the news media
immortalizes every day, I haven't requested an ATF permit yet.
Sampeling has shown great potential over the years with a potential in some cymoid
structures of over 200 oz Au per ton. These are sample assays and are not valid for
production mining. If the environmental push haden't closed down all the smelters in the
USA the state of Colorado still has great potential. Which would you rather have? A
squeakey clean environment or freedom and jobs? Just a thought.
In re- building my house, I am going to need some back fill decomposed granite and dirt
and plan to use some of the berm that was built by cleaning out the adit several years ago
and then reclaiming the yard between the hoist shed and the old mine shed. A Tough
Shed is within the gate on the East side and we may move it to a different location..
# M- 1988 -081
I remain: Sincerely yours, Harry Covey, Owner, Operator Permit
