This report covers the <br /> period from October 1, 1999 through December 31, 1999. <br /> Terry Tunnel Bulkhead <br /> The Terry Tunnel bulkhead was inspected on October 1, 1999 and October 20, 1999. <br /> During these inspections pressure gage readings were taken. The pressure reading on <br /> October I" was 20 psi and the pressure reading on October 20"' was 22 psi. These <br /> readings agree with the American Tunnel gage within the accuracy of the gages. <br /> Samples were taken for field parameters during each inspection. This information is <br /> included with this report. The Terry Tunnel bulkhead samples have had a high pH (11- <br /> 12) since pump back from the settling ponds was started even though no alkaline material <br /> has been added. It appears that lime (either pumped in previously or stacked against the <br /> bulkhead) is being activated or stirred up from the pumping. <br /> Inspection of the bulkhead and immediate tunnel area did not reveal any reason for <br /> concern or give any indication that the bulkhead is not performing as designed. The <br /> bulkhead valve was closed during the October 20°i inspection and the site was closed for <br /> the winter. <br />
