Dear Mr. Erickson:
Sunnyside Gold Corporation (SGC) deeded a tract of land within its MLR Permit area to
the San Juan County Historical Society (SJCHS) along with the Mayflower Mill in 1996
(AM-004, approved November 24, 1995). On this tract are several buildings known as
the power plant, mule barn, quonset and shop which, in AM-004, were approved for
conversion to non-mining use for the post mining land use in SGC's Reclamation Plan.
This approval eliminated the requirement for building removal as part of the area
reclamation plan. SGC has since submitted a permit Technical Revision (TR-24,
approved December 20, 2000) modifying the Post Mining Land Use for 7.44 acres of this
area to business park to reflect SJCHS's current and future planned use of the area (see
attached letter). Sunnyside believes the area meets this land use and qualifies for release.
Therefore, this request, for release of Sunnyside from further reclamation responsibility
for this area and removal of the area from Sunnyside's MLR permit (M-77-378) area, is
submitted to meet the requirements of the Hard Rock/Metal Mining Rule 4.16 for release
of performance and financial warranties.
Attached to this request are the following:
I. Reclamation report including a signed statement that all applicable portions
of the Reclamation Plan have been satisfied in accordance with the Rules and
all applicable requirements under the Act.
2. Photographs of the reclaimed area taken before the material excavated from
the Historical Society's new building project was placed on-site or
Sunnyside's topsoil stockpile was moved.
