Box 177 <br /> Silverton, Colorado 81433 <br /> Re: Routine Inspection of Wastewater Treatment Facilities <br /> for the Sunnyside Gold Mine -Terry Tunnel, CDPS Permit No. CO-0036056, <br /> Silverton, San Juan County, Colorado. <br /> Dear Mr. Perino: <br /> The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment- Water Quality Control Division <br /> ("WQCD") Durango District Office conducted a routine inspection of the wastewater treatment <br /> facility ("WWTF") for the Sunnyside Gold Mine - Terry Tunnel on July 25, 2000. Enclosed is your <br /> copy of that inspection report. <br /> During the inspection, the following items were noted and need to be brought to your attention: <br /> 1. No deficiencies and no problems were noted during the inspection. <br /> 2. The hydraulic loading of mine drainage into the holding ponds during the time of <br /> inspection was approximately 50 gallons per minute or 72,000 gallons per day. The <br /> treatment process consists of; 2 holding ponds, and a pumping system which pumps <br /> the accumulated mine drainage back through the Terry Tunnel Bulkhead into the Mine <br /> Pool. No discharge of wastewater was occurring during the time of inspection. <br /> 3. The Effluent Discharge Point ("Outfall") for the Sunnyside Gold Mine-Terry Tunnel is <br /> located at: Latitude 370 53.54 N and Longitude 1070 36.15 W, into Eureka Creek. <br /> A formal response to this inspection letter is not required from the Sunnyside Gold Corporation. <br /> Thank you for your time and cooperation.
