Box 177 <br /> Silverton, Colorado 81433 <br /> Re: Routine Inspection of Wastewater Treatment Facilities <br /> for the Sunnyside Gold Mine -American Tunnel, CDPS Permit No. CO-0027529, <br /> Silverton, San Juan County, Colorado. <br /> Dear Mr. Perino: <br /> The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment - Water Quality Control Division <br /> ("WQCD") Durango District Office conducted a routine inspection of the wastewater treatment <br /> facility ("WWTF") for the Sunnyside Gold Mine -American Tunnel on July 25, 2000. Enclosed is <br /> your copy of that inspection report. <br /> During the inspection, the following items were noted and need to be brought to your attention: <br /> 1. No deficiencies and no problems were noted during the inspection. <br /> 2. The hydraulic loading on the treatment facilities during the time of inspection was <br /> approximately 700 gallons per minute or 1 million gallons per day. The treatment <br /> process consists of; pH adjustment with hydrated lime addition, flocculent addition, flow <br /> through a series of 4 settling ponds, with discharge into Cement Creek which flows into <br /> the Animas River. <br /> 3. The Effluent Discharge Point ("Outfall") for the Sunnyside Gold Mine - American Tunnel is <br /> located at: Latitude 370 53.39 N and Longitude 1070 39.12 W, into Cement Creek. <br /> A formal response to this inspection letter is not required from the Sunnyside Gold Corporation. <br /> Thank you for your time and cooperation.
