The areas
includes reclaimed MDW pads and roads, the thermal event area and the Lone Pine facilities area. In July of 2011 the
Division conducted a partial Phase I Bond Release inspection (SL-03) of MDW pads and roads. The Division did not
inspect 18 of the MDW pad and road locations on these inspections. Given that the Division must make a finding that all
of the pads and roads were regraded to AOC, have proper drainage control, are revegetated and there are no weed or
erosion problems, the remaining pads and roads need to be inspected. The Division has scheduled the inspection for next
Tuesday, 7 August 2012, starting at the West Elk office at 8:00 a.m. I know this is very short notice but in order to wrap-
up the SL-03 application and meet our statutory deadlines for the SL-04 application, we need to get out there quickly. I
would like to invite you to attend the inspection, if possible. Please let me know if you plan on attending. Thanks.

James R Stark
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
(303)866-3567 X8145
www.mining.state.co.us

1
