Wait
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
The site is in a sand sage area. The sand pit as described borders the Purgatoire
State Wildlife Area. The main concern with this pit is that this area tends to blow when
vegetation is removed. We recommend that there be a buffer zone between the pit and the
wildlife area and that provision be made at the edges of the pit to minimize blowing. For
reclamation we recommend a grass/ shrub mix as recommended by the NRCS.
If you have any questions feel free to call Steve Keefer at (719) 940 -3586 or
Travis Black at (719) 336 -6600. Thank you for providing an opportunity to comment.
STATE OF COLORADO
John W. Hickenlooper, Governor • We King, Executive Director, Department of Natural Resources
Rick D.
