We arrived at the mine office, located at the King II
facilities, at 2:20 p.m. Tom Bird accompanied us to the King I Mine site. Skies were clear, and
the temperature was approximately 90 degrees.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE—Rule 4.09
Placement; Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization:
• Mr. Bird communicated that preparation of the Technical Revision application is nearly
complete. Trautner Geotech is finalizing the geotechnical investigation report.
• GCCE is presently considering alternatives for permanent disposal of the coal mine waste
placed as backfill material of the King I highwall.
• We drove to the top of the permitted refuse pile. Several loads of coal mine waste had been
dumped along the northern side of the pile. The material that has been already compacted
slopes gently to the south, directing any runoff into the collection ditch which then flows to
the West Sediment Pond.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0 Page 2 of 4
