July 26,2012 C-1980-007/West Elk Mine JRS <br /> SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12: <br /> -The ST-02 slide area was viewed from Highway 133. The area appeared to be stable and no problems were <br /> noted. The area was seeded and covered with coconut fiber matting for erosion control. There is some vegetation <br /> starting to grow on the reconstructed slope but it is not clear what it is at this point. <br /> - The repaired HR-1 slide area remained stable at the time of the inspection. The area was seeded and covered <br /> with coconut fiber mat for erosion control and moisture retention. It has been very dry at the West Elk this <br /> summer so there is only a small amount of vegetation growing at this time. <br /> DOCUMENTS RECEIVED:None <br /> Overall the operations at the West Elk Mine (both surface and underground) appear to be progressing in <br /> accordance with the Rules and the approved permit.
