t DESERADO MINE
BLUE MOUNTAIN ENERGY
BLUE MOUNTAIN ENERGY
3607 County Rd. 65
Rangely, CO 81648
(970)675 -4300
fax (970)675 -4399
July 23, 2012
Mr. Zach Trujillo
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Minor Revision #153 — B -Seam Dewatering and Treatment System Expansion.
Dear Zach:
vtecoie°
JU1_ 7 9,17

pW is,or,t)• Safety
Mining a
Enclosed is minor revision (MR -153) to construct two additional ponds for the B -Seam
Dewatering and Treatment System. The purpose of the additional ponds is to improve our ability
to react to unanticipated situations as they may arise.
Since the new ponds will fall within the previously permitted disturbance footprint no additional
disturbance acreage is proposed.
The added material moved for these ponds will increase the volume of material moved during
reclamation. The increase in initial material volume (subsoil) will be 841 CY to a total of 2416
CY (Task #212) and an increase of 192 CY of topsoil to a total of 552 CY (Task #215).
The SedCAD model was not changed since the additional storage space will only improve the
sediment control abilities of an already adequate system. Pond inlet and outlet design will
remain consistent with the existing dewatering ponds.
If you have any further questions please contact me at 970 - 675 -4322.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Scott Wanstedt
Environmental Engineer
swanstedt (y,deserado. corn
enc:
cc: Jeff Dubbert
Paul Daggett — BLM
