Please note that
Bobby and I were unable to find designated corner posts for the Grassland reference area on the Bosque de Oso wildlife
area, and we were unclear on where the approved reference area was in relation to the reclamation of well 218A in Fall
2011. When I was out with Bobby we tried to locate the upland wildlife reference area but we were unsuccessful. I
went back to the area after I left New Elk Mine on the afternoon of 7/18 and looked further. I located two white painted
t posts immediately north of the 2 gas well going west along the Apache Canyon road. A powerline cuts across this
knob. The area that I identified as the upland reference area had also been disturbed by cutting of all Ponderosa pine,
Pinyon pine, Juniper, and Oak brush. This had occurred recently based upon the pungent scent of pine at the cut and
crushed tree locations. NECC needs to locate and mark the upland wildlife reference area as well.
Please call me if you have any questions regarding my report.
_)2v,2t H.
