July 18, 2012 C- 2010- 089/New Horizon North Mine MLT
21.33 cfs. The concrete division box (Photo 2) divides the flow into the Second Park Lateral
(24" HDPE pipe) and the Forsman Ditch (open channel).
At the point where the buried pipeline reaches 2650 Road, an above - ground system of pipes and
valves further divides the flow, with a large concrete stand -pipe (Photo 3) charging the next
segment of pipeline for its route around the southern end of the perinit area (Photo 4). Vents are
installed at various locations along the pipeline to allow any air to bleed off. Lines for each
recipient of water are fitted with totalizing (acre -feet) flow meters which also show the current
rate in cubic feet per second (Photo 5).
At the pipeline's terminus, on the west side of 2600 Road, an additional assembly of valved
pipes (Photo 6) restores flows to various downstream users. The valves reduce the water
pressure in the pipelines prior to its being released.
Bridge Replacement
One condition of the special use permit issued by Montrose County for the NH North Mine is a
Road Improvement Agreement. One aspect of this agreement is the replacement of the 2700 Rd
bridge over Tuttle Draw (Photo 7). We observed that earthwork for the detour alignment has
been completed (Photo 8), and that Tuttle Draw flow is handled by a temporary culvert pipe.
Mr. Gubka said that county personnel performed the work that has been completed to date.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0 Page 3 of 8
