The required fee of $257 for the renewal of the Greeley 35th Ave SWSP, and
$1,593 for the inclusion of a new SWSP for the Iverson Pit, has been submitted (receipt nos.
3655882 and 3654516, respectively). The original SWSP, which was only for the Greeley 35th
Ave Pit, was originally approved on February 12, 1992 and it was most recently approved in a
letter dated January 11, 2011.
SWSP Operation
Since the last SWSP approval letter Martin Marietta Materials ( "MMM" or "Applicant ")
acquired the Greeley 35th Ave Pit from Lafarge West. The Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety ( "DRMS ") approved the Succession of Operators, which officially transferred all
operational and reclamation responsibilities from Lafarge West to MMM on February 27, 2012.
Also on February 27, 2012 DRMS issued a mining and reclamation permit to MMM for the
neighboring Iverson Pit.
MMM will effectively operate both the 35th Ave Pit and Iverson Pit as one operation as
they will share the mining infrastructure already in place at the 35th Ave Pit, the water lease
used for replacement, the water supply for dust control, and credits from Iverson Pit dewaterinq
operations. Under this plan, MMM will begin mining the Iverson Pit and continue mining the 35
Ave Pit. Depletions from both pits will affect the Cache la Poudre River at approximately the
same location and will be replaced through various leases with th(RQtiL g Vg01ey and
dewatering credits generated at the Iverson Pit.
