Berry, David
From: Chris Kamper [CKamper @cksmb.com]
Sent: Friday, May 11, 2012 1:35 PM
To: Berry, David
Cc: 'Jeff Fugate'; Lance Wade (rlwade @wfcnucla.org)
Subject: FW: Response from WFC
Dave, please see a preliminary response below.
Best regards,
Chris
From: Ross Gubka [mailto:rgubka @wfcnucla.org]
Sent: Friday, May 11, 2012 1:07 PM
To: 'Lance Wade'; 'Rick Wolney'; 'Clifford Chiles'; 'Tom Fry'
Cc: Chris Kamper
Subject: RE:
Thursday, May 10 mid to late morning, Rick Wolney and I (Ross) were checking backfill grades on the Morgan
Property with the GPS instrument. We both in the engineers PU and were checking elevations on both the top of the
brown dirt (Bench 1) backfill and the black /gray Bench 2 just underneath it. During the inspection, we received a
message from one of the operators that Mike Morgan wanted to talk to me (Ross). A few minutes after receiving the
message, Rick and I drove over to the far western Permit Fence where we meet Mike. Mike expressed his concern that
the trucks were dumping, what appeared to him, loads of good Bench 1 material over the edge. Rick stated that where
the shovel was digging, the Bench 1 material was very rocky. Rick, Mike and myself were close enough to visually see
the rocky blocks of Bench 1 that the shovel was working in. During this visit, haul trucks were passing even closer to us
and the rock could be seen in the bed. Rick stated that he didn't think it would be good to place the rocky Bench 1
material so close to the final surface. Mike definitely agreed that he didn't want rock near the surface or just below the
topsoil. I stated that the shovel operated called to the truck drivers when ever there was a good load of Bench 1 and
thus the driver would dump in a different location and not over the edge. Mike was very happy with what was said and
the procedure that the crew and Rick was doing. All of this was close enough to the permit fence that Mike should
have been able to figure it out by his own observations. I felt that we had satisfactory answered Mikes concerns and he
had no further objections.
Ross
From: Chris Kamper [mailto:CKamper @cksmb.coml
Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 4:17 PM
To: Lance Wade (rlwade @wfcnucla.orq)
Subject: FW:
Call me to discuss when you have a chance.
Best,
Chris
1
