Kurtis Blunt of Colowyo also participated in the
inspection. The ground was dry. The weather was hot, and no precipitation was experienced.
Due to a recent fatality on site, there was limited activity in the West and South Taylor Pits. The 102 dragline was
moving spoil below the West Pit Spoil Pile.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14:
The 102 dragline was moving spoil below the West Pit Spoil Pile (aka Hink's Peak) on the northeast side.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE — Rule 4.09:
West Taylor Fill was observed from the road below and no problems were observed. Topsoil has been spread on
almost the entire face. The rocks in the side drains still need to be broken into smaller rocks.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05:
The following ponds were inspected: Stoker Siding, Rail Loop, Gossard, Section 28, Prospect, Gulch A, Streeter,
West Taylor, and East Taylor. Streeter, West Taylor and East Taylor were discharging. The discharge water was
clear for these ponds. Most of the other ponds were holding water but not discharging. The following were empty:
Section 28 and Gulch A. No problems were identified with dams or other structural aspects of the ponds.
Other observations concerning the ponds:
• Flumes need to be cleaned below three ponds: Stoker Siding Pond (low priority), Prospect Pond, East
Taylor Pond.
• Large amounts of algae were identified at Stoker Siding and Streeter Ponds.
• The Prospect darn is seeing significant vegetation growth on top where it was bare.
The South Collector Ditch was observed from the top to Prospect Ditch; no problems were observed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: I
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 8
