OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M -1989 -009
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TCW
INSPECTION DATE: July 10, 2012
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by TC Wait of DRMS. The mine operator representative
present was Mr. Rudy Torres. The site is located about 1/2 mile south of Lamar. Post -mine land use for this site
is industrial /commercial. The permit area is approximately 8 acres, in two 4 -acre sections, and was accessed
by vehicle.
At the time of the inspection, the site was dry. The permit signs were in place and the boundary markers were
delineated with t- posts. There did not appear to be any mine - related disturbance outside of the permit
boundary area.
The western area of the site is still being mined to some extent. There was a pile of concrete and debris
material in the center of the site that Mr. Torres indicated may be used as backfill material. The eastern slope
of the western area is steeper than 3:1, but has established vegetation at the top. Mr. Torres indicated he
may consider backfilling this area to the 3:1 slope rather than further disturbing the successful vegetation on
the site. The remainder of the western area is sparsely vegetated with volunteer growth. Topsoil stockpiles
are present and have vegetative cover.
The eastern area of the site has been reclaimed. Vegetation has established nearly to the same density as
undisturbed areas and slopes are 3:1 or flatter. Mr. Torres indicated that the ranch roads in this area will likely
stay for access purposes.
Based on the conditions of the site at the time of the inspection, the eastern 4 acres of the site is ready for
release. If a formal release request is received by DRMS within 60 days of this inspection report, an additional
release inspection by DRMS will not be required. The mine activity in the western 4 -acres of the site is in
compliance with DRMS regulations.
