For your convenience, data from the last four quarters are also included in Table 1
as an attachment.
No exceedances were found for any of the monitoring points and the newly drilled
compliance well CEM -005 which did not produce water.
CEM -005 had residual water from drilling activities. The well drilling company (Ingram)
had bailed the well however, their bailer could not bail all the water from the deepest depth.
To ensure that the water that was in the well was from the well drilling activities and not
from the Fort Hays formation producing water CEMEX had Johns Well Service bail the well
again. A total of 1.8 gallons of water (6/27/12) was removed and then the static water level
was checked at the time of bailing and 24 hours later. The final static level was unchanged
after 24 hours so no sample was collected as the limited amount of water still in the well was
from the drilling activities.
On June 13, 2012, CEMEX personnel collected water sample from the CEM -004 monitoring
well, and on June 14, 2012 water samples were collected from CEM -001 monitoring well and
the ponded water at the north east end of C -Pit.
The C -Pit ponded water and well groundwater samples taken were analyzed for pH, chloride,
sulfate, dissolved solids, dissolved selenium and dissolved thallium. The samples were
analyzed for pH at the time of collection; this value is reported instead of the laboratory value
due to hold time changes that occur in pH values. Laboratory results summarized in Table 1
indicate that the analytes were within the target levels.
