Runoff from County Road 117 drops down a steep undisturbed slope and washes over the lower portal
area. This runoff is impacting the mine closure by causing the roof to collapse behind the portal seal (see
photo 7487). If the roof collapses this could become a hazardous feature with easy public access from
the county road. DRMS is aware of this possibility and is monitoring this feature and evaluating options
to route runoff from the county road away from the site.
No signs of erosion or off -ste impacts were observed during this inspection. Regraded surfaces do not
exhibit rills or gullies, diversion channels are stable, and no sediment trace was evident outside the
former permit area. Field evaluation of this site indicates DRMS is successfully preventing off -site
impacts at reclaimed bond forfeiture / revoked permit areas. Field evaluations of two other bond
forfeiture sites are being conducted this evaluation year (July 1, 2011 —June 30, 2012) and the combined
results will be reported in QSM's EY 2012 Annual Evaluation Report for Colorado.
