Pineda <br />Director <br />Re: Seneca 11-W Mine (Permit No. C- 1982 -057) <br />Technical Revision No. 77 JR -77) <br />TR -77 Demonstrations for Permanent Retention of Sedimentation Ponds and <br />Stockponds <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 25, 2012 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Seneca 11-W Mine was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Seneca Coal Company, LLC. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The operator has proposed permanent retention of Sedimentation Ponds 005, 006, 009, 015, 016, <br />and 017 and Stockponds T -2, T -3, T -5, T -18, T -20, T -24, T -26, and T -27. The revision addresses <br />the regulatory requirements pertaining to water quality and quantity, pond construction, landowner <br />consent, and water rights. Ponds 015 and 017 and Stock T26 and T27 are located on land <br />owned by the John Ricks Family Trust. <br />The Surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles South of Hayden, <br />Colorado. The permit area is ffirther described as follows: <br />T5N, R88W; All of Section 15; Portions of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 34, and <br />35 <br />T6N, R88W; Portions of Sections 14, 23 and 24 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 17, 18, 19 <br />The above- mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hayden <br />Gulch. <br />Office of Office of <br />Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines <br />
