years used to generate the equation, the equation need not be modified by subtracting out certain species.
After reviewing the data, the Division believes the 10% relative cover contribution threshold discussed
in the review of the 2011 annual report is appropriate to use when determining revegetation success and
allows for a fair comparison of the predicted vegetative cover and production success standard amount
and the measured amount for a given year.
Another option would be to create a predictive equation to estimate the relative cover and production of
annual /biennial species for a given year based on precipitation using the Osgood reference area data. By
doing this, it might be possible to predict the amount of annuals /biennials (excluding state listed noxious
weeds) for a given year to set the allowable contribution threshold. The predicted amount may be higher
or lower than the 10% threshold. The Division would then use whatever threshold amount is higher to
evaluate reclamation success.
In either case, State listed noxious weeds need to be excluded from the data when generating the
predictive equations.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
p o k& C W--
Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist
DRMS
CC: Don MacDonald, Coors Energy Company via e -mail
