Completion <br /> of this project would serve to divert water back through <br /> the Gold Prince workings and into the Sunnyside Mine <br /> pool . No significant flows would be expected from <br /> September through April . <br /> d) Ransom tunnel bulkhead <br /> The project was started in April 1997 and was active <br /> throughout May 1997 . <br /> e) Boulder Creek Tailings Project <br /> This project was started and completed except for <br /> planting in May 1997 . <br /> Mineral Creek Subbasin <br /> a) Longfellow-Koehler Project <br /> This project consisted of separating flows by temporary <br /> ditches and placing the portal flows in pipes (July, 1996 <br /> - October, 1996) and excavating the Koehler dump and <br /> "red" lake sediments (November, 1996 - March, 1997) . <br /> Cement Creek Subbasin I" <br /> a) Closure of the American Tunnev<ulkhead valve. Final <br /> closure was in September j <br /> 997 <br /> b) Diversion and treatment o Cement Creek. This project <br /> was active from August 1996 through May 1997. <br /> c) American Tunnel Waste Dump <br /> The excavation portion of this project was completed in <br /> 1995. <br /> d) Alkaline injection <br /> This project consisted of injecting water and lime into <br /> the mine pool and was active from July 1996-October 1996. <br /> 3) Known activities not related to mine closure taking place in <br /> the affected basin. <br /> Sunnyside is not aware of any significant human activities not <br /> related to mine closure taking place in the Upper Animas Basin <br /> that could impact water quality over an extended period. <br /> Sunnyside attributes the observed regional rise in dissolved <br /> zinc concentrations to weather related factors (ie, heavy <br /> snowfall with little frozen ground) . Department of Wildlife <br /> River Watch data shows a similar occurrence in 1993 . <br />
