Absent from the deposits are whole bottles and cans and other materials suggesting the site has been <br /> "picked over,,for many years The site is located adjacent to a <br /> and Picayune Gulch that gets a hi l�'P Fail between Animas For <br /> g high amount of off road traffic during the summer.months. e <br /> Th <br /> mine area is a favored stop by the off road enthusiasts and the cumulation of modern trash h the <br /> area shows it's common modem use for camping. <br /> Description of the Gold Prince Mine(5SA37) <br /> The Gold Prince Mine is a complex of 17 features including <br /> tram load out, tram tower,two mills, boarding house the remains in a portal, atrial <br /> structural remains, a tailin ' sag wood frame building,other <br /> structural <br /> ft to 8s pond' and artifact deposits (Figures 1,2, & 5). The site measures <br /> long(north-south)by 800 ft wide(cast-west)and covers a 15 acre area. Tailings bed <br /> not assigned individual feature numbers, but they are drawn to scale on the site piles were <br /> together in a separate paragraph. The majority of the features associated with thep m nco deteriorated, and have been salvaged of structural components. are <br /> Due to the extensive historic use of <br /> this area there are numerous flat spots and other physical remains from <br /> environment. Not all of these area could be positively identiof <br /> fied as features, the <br /> clearly cationn defined <br /> features were recorded, and some more poorly defined areas that could be attributed to the <br /> locations of buildings depicted in historic photographs of the site were also recorded.
