I think it accurately depicts the condition of the reclamation, and thank
you for pulling the weeds. I have spent many days this summer pulling weeds in this area as well as the tipple
area.
Since the wildland fire in 2009 we have done considerable fire mitigation that I don't think that I have
mentioned. We have cut and cleared primarily juniper growth on over 130 acres in section 19 and 24, and we
have used the cuttings in several gullies to slow downcutting.. This work has been in conjunction with the
Colorado DOW with advice from the NRCS. This has been done with a Bobcat equipped with a Fecon
head and with a tree shear.
I sent you and Dan Hernandez a little summary of our meeting with Rich Munson and George Patterson last
week. Since that time I have asked them when they intend to start filling the subsidence holes. They have not
given me a date. They have also said that they are not going to clear the tangled cable out of the monitoring
well. What is the Division's position on these matters now?
Doug Corley

Fri, 6/29/12, Binns, Janet <Janet.Binns@state.co.us>
--- On wrote:

From: Binns, Janet <Janet.Binns@state.co.us>
Subject: GEC Mine C1981037 June Inspection Report
To: "W D Corley, Jr." <ajjc@att.net>
Cc: "DRMS-Coal-Admin" <DRMS-Coal-Admin@state.co.us>
Date: Friday, June 29, 2012, 9:43 AM
Good Morning Dr. Corley,

I was out on the GEC Mine last week conducting an inspection. Please find my inspection report
attached to this e-mail. I hope Canon City is starting to get some rain. Everything is extremely dry at
the mine.
1
