CULVERT 3
• Culvert 3 is an 8" diameter CMP that drains the switch back on the
mine access road.
Culvert Diameter
Flow Capacity with no head
Q REQUIRED AREA 3
Bn
1.00 CFS
1.12 CFS
Bx the end of April 1994, Culvert 3 will be replaced with a 12-inch
diameter pipe or culvert. Its capacity will then be 2.2 CFS which is
adequate to carry the design flow of 1.12 CFS.
CULVERT 4
Culvert 4 is a 24" diameter corrugated pipe. It is designed to convey
the flow under the access road into Ditch "B".
Culvert Diameter 24"
Flow Capacity with no head 12.00 CFS
Q REQUIRED AREA 1, 2, 3, 4 7.91 CFS
During 1993 the hillside above culvert 4 slid down and blocked
a portion of the ditch at the inlet to the culvert. A segment of
• 24" ADS culvert was placed in the ditch immediately above the inlet
of Culvert 4 to hold the ditch open. Since both cuverts are 24"
and can handle 150 of the design flow, this practice should
be acceptable. The ditch at the inlet of the 24" ADS culvert must
be deepened and widened to the full depth and width of the 24" ADS
culvert.
CULVERT 5
Culvert 5 is an 18" corrugated metal pipe. It is located on the west
side of the mine site near the bridge, It is designed to direct the
flow from Area 7 into the Sediment Pond.
Culvert Diameter 18"
Flow Capacity with no head
Q REQUIRED AREA 7
5.75 CFS
4.38 CFS

11-6 Rev. 02-15-94
