SMALL AREA EYPEMTION
ACCESS ROAD
The access road from the highway at Somerset to the bridge across
the North Fork of the Gunnison River cannot be drained into a
sediment pond. The road is a narrow corridor with a steep cut
slope to the north and a steep bank sloping towards the river to
the south. There is not enough room at the low point of the road
to construct a sediment pond.
The access road is paved. Drainage from the access road and its
gravel collection ditch does not come in contact with acid,
toxic, or alkaline materials which would degrade the quality of
the water.
The road is constructed so drainage from it is controlled so it
will be collected and passed through a straw bale filter. The
outside, south, edge of the road is elevated so drainage from the
road flows to the inside collection ditch. Drainage collected in
the inside collection ditch passes through a straw bale filter
before it enters the river.
The only activities to be conducted within the exempted area are
vehicular use of the road and minor road maintenance.
The following Drawing No. EYH 11 -2, Access Road Small Area Exemp-
tion, delineates the subject area. The area contains only 0.29
acres.
• 11 - 11
New June 29, 1990
