• 2.05.6(6)
Although no mining is to be performed in Section 21, the projected
extent of subsidence does encroach upon the northwest corner of
this section. There are no structures or renewable resource lands
located in the area to be affected in Section 21. There is a water
right in the northwest corner of Section 21 but it is outside of
the projected extent of subsidence. This spring has been
previously undermined by the Bear No. 2 Mine C -Seam and West Elk's
F -Seam is quite close to it. Because there are no structures or
renewable resource lands in the Section 21 affected area, no
special mine plan design features are incorporated to control
subsidence. Additionally, no subsidence monitoring will be
performed in the Section 21 affected area.
The mine plan area in Section 16 will undermine one unnamed
ephemeral drainage. All of the mine plan area in Section 16 has
previously been undermined by the Bear No. 2 Mine C -Seam.
Additionally, as shown on Map 16, Previously Mined Areas, some of
the Section 16 mine plan area has been undermined by West Elk's F-
Seam. The main concern regarding the Section 16 Mine plan area is
• the portion of the mine plan that is nearest the river and outcrop.
Sections F -F and G -G shown on Map 15 present the anticipated angle
of draw for the proposed B -Seam Mine plan near the river and
outcrop.
•
Section F -F shows that the projected extent of subsidence will be
over 500 feet south and approximately 180 feet above the North Fork
of the Gunnison River. Section G -G shows that the projected extent
of subsidence will be over 550 feet south and approximately 380
feet above the river. These two sections show that the projected
extent of subsidence will not impact the North Fork of the Gunnison
River. Additionally, the mine plan area does not encroach upon the
110 foot overburden boundary so trough subsidence should not be a
concern.
There are some landslide and debris flow features noted on Map 6
that are within the Section 16 mine plan area. As stated
previously in this section, subsidence could have small effects on
both existing and new landslides. However, there are no long term
impacts expected to be caused by subsidence in this area.
2.05 -63c Rev. 09 -26 -94
