The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is proposing to approve the release of
coal exploration bond submitted by New Elk Coal Company, LLC for Notice(s) of Intent No. X-
2010- 232 -00. The bond was submitted to cover reclamation costs of exploration drill holes in Las
Animas County. An inspection showed that all disturbance associated with the exploration project
has been adequately reclaimed. Three of the drill holes were converted to monitoring wells for the
New Elk Mine #C- 1981 -012 and are now covered under the New Elk permit bond.
The legal description for the project is as follows: Township 33 South, Range 67 West Sections 5,
6, 7, 9, and 18; Township 33 South, Range 68 West, Section 12
Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by this proposed decision may submit
written comments to the Division at the address below within 30 days of publication of this
proposed decision in the The Chronicle - News.
