associated with extensive deposits of gypsum or anhydrite and halite, minerals that are absent or
nearly so in this geologic section.
Na is a major component of some clay minerals, and such may be present in these local rocks,
although this thought is borne from speculation. Na may also derive from highly evolved igneous
rocks, but these are not known in the immediate vicinity. This aside deserves more consideration,
perhaps from the author's own interest than from any future regulatory focus. However, Na as a
cause of water pollution in some of the downstream reaches may be an avenue of investigation
worth considering as the ordinary examinations of fresh water toxicology do not consider these
components to be present in the concentrations indicated by the analyses at hand.
Prepared by:
Harry .
