BOAR CREEK \.
Cleanwater species present indicated there was good water quality and some good instream
substrate, with indications of moderate amounts of sediment. Cleanwater species included mayflies
Epeorus and Rhithrogena, stoneflies Podmosta and Amphinentura, and dipterans Agathon and
Bibiocephala. The observed number of shredders in the community is generally found where riparian
habitat is in at least fair condition.
The potential for a resident fishery on this stream appeared to be fairly good. Cleanwater species
present indicated there should be some suitable spawning substrate available, but the macro invertebrate
biomass of 0.4 g/m2 would be limiting to the number and size of fish that could be supported in this
ecosystem angwas low for a stream with 71 mg/l alkalinity.
The BCI value of 80 indicated this ecosystem was in fairly good condition. Apparently,
limitations in this ecosystem were mainly due to characteristics of the surrounding topography, since there
were few, if any, management activities in the area.
5`-r" `1
3 `' 6- S
