Engineering Testing Labs (ETL)
Phoenix, Arizona
Mr. John Rosner - 602/268-1381
Mobilization $ 2,200.00
Drilling & Sampling 8,400.00
TOTAL = $10,600.00
Our recommendation for the drilling and sampling is to use Engin-
eering Testing Labs. This is based in large on the fact that Pitcher
Drilling proposes drilling with mud and ETL proposes to drill with air
and case the holes. We doubt the refuse material will hold an uncased
hole. In addition, the air drilling will provide a more useable seven
foot interval of sample for the refuse coal recovery study.
A total of four trenches to a depth of twenty to twenty-five feet
are recommended to provide the additional data required for the refuse
stability and refuse coal recovery studies. The exact location of the
trenches should be determined after evaluation of the initial drilling
effort. The trenches will provide bulk samples for the coal refuse
recovery Study and insitu density test sites for the refuse stability
study.
LABORATORY TESTING
Laboratory geotechnical tests need to be carried out on both the
refuse and the foundation material of the present and proposed refuse
piles to determine their physical properties. These physical proper-
ties are to be used for stability analysis of the refuse pile.
A preliminary program of the type and number of tests to be per-
formed is given below:
