-7-
Storage Pad No. 4
This pad is located near Mines I and 2. The pad is almost flat, with 10 feet of
fill on the west side and 10 feet of cut slope on the east side. The surface area
is 1.14 acres. Therefore, 0.57 acres has to be backfilled to an average depth
of 5 feet.
The average push distance would be approximately 150 feet, thus a D9U could push
approximately 1,000 LCY/hr. A volume of 4,598 yd3 must be moved. The following
are the factors which will affect production (pgs. 42, 43, 500 - CIi) :
Condition Factor
Average Operator 0.75
Rock Material 0.70
50 min. work hour 0.84
Grade factor 20 0.99
Altitude deration 0.94
Overall Factor 0.41
With a production factor of 0.41 and a production rate of 1,000 LCY/hr. , it would
require a D9U 11 hours to complete this operation at the following cost:
I D9U dozer: 11 hours $ $127.00/hr. _ $1,397.00
1 Operator: 11 hours @ $ 15.00/hr. _ $ 165.00
TOTAL COST $1,562.00
Mine No. 3
There are three separate areas to be backfilled at Mine No. 3; the mine bench, the
upper bin bench and the lower bin bench. The mine bench has an acreage of 4.86
and must be backfilled to an average depth of 27.13 feet, thus 222,720 yd3 must be
moved. The average push distance for a D9U would be 250 feet. The unadjusted
production for this push distance (pg. 41, CH) would be 650 LCY/hr. The factors
affecting production are:
Condition Factor
Average Operator 0. 75
Rock Material 0. 70
50 min. work hour 0.84
Grade Factor 300 0.40
Altitude deration 0.94
Overall Factor 0.17
With a production factor of 0.17, the production rate for a D9U is 111 LCY/hr.
Therefore, it would take 21896 hours to complete this backfilling operation at
the following cost:
