The first is an
annual report for 1970 that discusses prospecting around No. 5 Mine,
specifically mentions installing a fan, power line and water pumps in the
old (1900-1909) Coal Basin mine to start a new mine behind the old
workings.
The second is an annual report for 1971 discussing mining past the old
mine and again pumping water. The third is an invoice ordering the power
poles and hardware to construct the power line to No. 5 Mine.
The fourth is a document from the U. S. Forest Service which answers
a request from us (which I cannot find, but it was mailed in 1971) to let
us use the old railroad grade for our access road; they did not agree to
this idea and proposed this alternate route or asked us to submit an
alternate route.
I trust this will suffice to document the fact that we started working
on No. 5 Mine before February, 1972.
Sincerely',
Environmental Coordinator
DWBowman:ms
Enclosures
