-24-
of this document. At this time, no bedrock ground water monitoring is
required because the anticipated insignificant impacts do not warrant the
cost of drilling to such great depths (2,000-3,000 feet) . Therefore, the
applicant will only monitor alluvial ground water.
All observation wells will be monitored on a quarterly basis. Water
levels and samples will be taken. Water samples will be analyzed for the
following constituents:
pH Magnesium
Temperature Sulfate
Specific Conductivity Iron
Total Dissolved Solids Manganese
Bicarbonate Mercury
Calcium
The proposed operation is in compliance with the requirements of this
section.
VII. Probable H drolo is Conseq uences of Minin5 and Cumulative
H dro ogic Impacts Study - Rules 2 U5 b 3 and 2 07 6 2 (c)
This Cumulative Hydrologic Impact Study (CHIS) for the drainage basin of
the Roaring Fork River has been prepared by the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Division (CMLRD) pursuant to Rule 2.07.6(2) (c) . This CHIS
assesses the probable cumulative hydrologic impacts of all anticipated
coal mining operations upon the general area of the Roaring For Der
Valley (Figure 1 ). Included in this ass sment are all existing c
mines and those proposed cod mines for vhich permit applications have
been submitted to the Division This study has been prepared using
information and analysis con rained in the Coal Basin mines permit
application, information and analysis contained in other permit
applications of mines located in the general area and other available
information, including site visitation by members of the Division staff.
Coal mining operations in the study area include:
1 . Garfield Energy Corp. - Sunlight Mine, CMLRD File No. C-046-81
2. Snowmass Coal Company - North Thompson Creek Mines, CMLRD File
No. C-025-81
3. Mid-Continent Resources, Inc. - Coal Basin Mines, CMLRD File
No. C-Ul i-81
Mid-Continent will be undermining the headwaters of Muddy Creek a
Ids tributary of the North Fork of the Gunny'son.- The ndr rgu, fir' '
i ;f that point will be over 2,000 feet be l dw i"ground'f"u`r ac 142XV n
effects are projected to be small , therefore, this portion of the Coal a n 3
t Basin mining eoeration will not be considered in the cumulative
w hydrologic impact assessment. The other two :nines are entirely within
the Roaring Fork drainage basin.
