r
COAL INSPECTION REPORT
Operation: Coal Basin Mines
File No. : C-017-81
Operator Name: Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
Permittee Name: Same
Address: P.O. Box 158
Carbondale, CO 81623
County: Pitkin
Inspection Date: October 25, 1984
Type of Operation: Underground, coal
Inspector: James A. Pendleton
Weather: Clear and cool (450 F)
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Type of Inspection: Geotechnical , partial
Operator Contact: Tom Johansen and Wesley Huff
I. General Comments
I examined the Sutey Parcel Coal Processing Waste Pile Site, which is in the
process of preparation to receive coal processing waste. Sediment ponds were
being completed. Culverted access road creek crossing and conveyor
foundations were being completed. Preparation of the site should be complete
within two to three weeks, if good weather continues.
I visited the rock tunnel coal processing waste pile and viewed the old, no
longer used, waste pile, both of which are operating in compliance with the
approved permit. As usual , surface moisture made working on both of these
piles extremely difficult, for which reason the operator is avidly pursuing
completion of the Sutey site. At the Sutey pile, an enlarged working surface
will allow better management of surface moisture problems during the placement
and compaction of coal processing waste.
