General Comments Continued <br /> The operator was actively cleaning the slurry pond behind the wash plant and <br /> was planning to begin cleaning the sediment ponds at discharge point 001 on <br /> November 2, 1984. The three settling ponds below mine #1 and one pond below <br /> mine #4 have been completed. <br /> Drainage improvements at the rock tunnel and preparation plant were discussed <br /> with the operator. The drainage improvement work at the rock tunnel was <br /> completed during the course of this inspection. <br /> The west culvert along the rock tunnel to wash plant conveyor corridor was <br /> found to be unnecessary and could lead to erosion of the embankment of the <br /> conveyor/road. Furthermore, a cross drain culvert has been installed <br /> approximately 100 feet upgradient from the west culvert. The operator was <br /> instructed to either remove or plug the far west culvert. <br />
