As you know, this visit
was the first step in the assessment of the mine's bond coverage to be
performed by personnel of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement's Western Support Center. The evaluation will continue with a
review of the mine plans and perhaps a return visit to the site.
We appreciate your concern regarding this review and anticipate needing the
Mined Land Reclamation Division's assistance prior to the assessment
becoming final. Please excuse our oversight in coordination concerning the
initial site visit and be assured we will notify you of future actions. Of
course, a copy of the final report will be forwarded to your offices when
the project is complete.
Sincerely,
Robert H. Hagen, Director
Albuquerque Field Office
