II. Compliance :vita Colorado Surface Coal ,dining Reclamation Act
CRS 1973, as amended 34-33-101, et. s ec. ,
and the
Rules and Regulations Issued Pursuant to the .act
This includes a 1--sting of the particular provisions of the regulatory program which were
examined during the course of this inspection, and identifies enforcement actions taken
during the inspection for failure to comply with the Rules and Regulations, the Act and
the permit.
i
i
4.02 Signs and Markers
I
i
All required signs were present.
i
4.03 Roads
I
All the roads were generally well-maintained and ditches and culverts were clean.
4.04 Support Facilities
No problems were noted with facilities at the mine site.
4.05 Hydrologic Balance
1. The road over Dutch Creek to the refuse pile needs to be regraded so water does not
pond on the bridge.
2. The berm along Coal Creek near the M-K garage has been re-established.
3. The channel below the Mine #1 & 2 sediment pond needs to be redefined to avoid excess
erosion below the pond. The small amount of water had breached the riprapped channel below
i
the discharge point. No immediate damage was occurring because of the small amount of dis-
charge.
4. The discharge pipe at the Mine #5 sediment pond must be backfilled where the soil
has settled.
4.06 Topsoil
1. The topsoil stockpiles at the rock tunnel dump must have topsoil signs placed on them.
2. Topsoil was actively being stripped from the refuse pile area and appeared to be
adequate.
4.07 Sealing of Drill Holes and Underground Openings
There is no current drillingand the
adits will be sealed upon final reclamation.
4.08 Use of Explosives
All explosives are used underground.
