All topsoil markers were in place.
The topsoil marker an the outslope of the Mine #1 sediment pond which had been missing
last month was replaced.
4.03 Roads
The roads to the mines were in good condition with the exception of the road to mine
#4 which is snowcovered and not in use. Road drainage ditches were cleared as were
entrances to all culverts.
The culverts (four or five) along the road to mine #5 are still in need of repair at
the inlet. The inlets were bent by machinery used to clear the entrance of sediment.
Although the culverts still function, the damage has changed the hydraulic entrance
coefficient which means the culverts may now not have the same capacity as in the
undamaged state.
Dust on most roads were not a problem, however, a few segments of the roads that
faced the south were dry and caused excessive dust. Dust control needs to be
concentrated on these segments.
4.05 Hydrologic Balance
The upper artic circle pond has been cleaned of sediment. Drainage to and from the
pond was fuctioning properly.
The gulley that formed at the powder magazine has been corrected and a berm has been
placed to keep water flowing on the road.
The drainage at the turnoff to #4 mine road has been repaired. The water is now direct-
ed to flow in both directions.
The drainage control berm on the mine #1 pad has been re-established. Although snow
had covered the site it appeared that the berm/ditch was about 3 feet high.
The trash near the outslope below the fan road at mine #1 has been buried. The area
also was topsoiled, seeded and mulched. Signs were erected (permit boundary) to
discourage workers from disturbing the area.
The water withdrawal site at be-'.ow mine #5 is no longer being used. Doug indicated
that he planned to move the site next spring to the sediment pond below mine 5. This
pond usually has sane water in it due to ground water recharge (springs) .
4.06 Topsoil and 4.09 Underground development waste
Topsoil and vegetation was being removed from the rock tunnel disposal site. Doug
indicated that they prepare enough area in advance to supply the disposal area over the
entire winter.
