Width, from crest to crest shall be seventeen and one half feet (17.5');
Side slopes shall not be steeper than 2.0 H : 1 V.
Upon completion of Ditch 8 excavation and liner installation, the dimensions of Ditch 8
shall be as follows:
- The base of the ditch shall be five feet (5');
- Depth, from base to crest, shall be two feet (2.0');
- Width, from crest to crest shall be sixteen feet (16.0');
- Side slopes shall not be steeper than 2.0 H : 1 V.
The base of the channel must be excavated so that the completed vertical dimension of
two and eight tenths feet (2.8') is uniform across the base of the channel, as measured
perpendicular to the direction of flow. High or low spots are not acceptable, and will
require additional grading until the specified cross section is achieved.
Excavated material shall be placed in the old Ditch 8, located immediately west of the new
Ditch 8. Prior to placement of the excavated material into the old Ditch 8, logs and the
underlying synthetic mat must be removed from the ditch. Logs will be saved and
replaced east of the new channel when topsoil application and revegetation is completed.
The old mat will be transported from the site and must be properly disposed of by
CONTRACTOR. Excavated material placed in the old channel shall be compacted in
place using tracked equipment. The material must be placed so that the old channel void
is filled to at least one foot (1) over the adjacent ground surface elevation. If necessary, to
achieve this minimum elevation, extra soil derived from the Sutey Topsoil Stockpile may
be placed to increase the elevation as required.
Upon completion of the Ditch 8 excavation, the base of the ditch shall be ripped to a depth
of three to four inches (3" to 4"). Ripping shall occur perpendicular to the direction of flow.
Ripping shall also occur immediately outside of the crest of the Ditch 8 to the crest of the
old channel on the west side, and to the hillside on the east side.
Upon acceptance of the ripping, topsoil shall be applied to the excavated Ditch 8. Topsoil
will be removed from the Sutey Topsoil Stockpile at the location designated by PROJECT
MANAGER. Topsoil from the Sutey Topsoil Stockpile shall be excavated in a manner so
that the stockpile is left in a stable condition. All cut areas shall be excavated so that they
do not exceed 3H : 1 V when excavation of topsoil is completed.
Topsoil shall be applied to the base and sides of the excavated Ditch 8 to a uniform depth
of three inches (3"). Topsoil shall also be applied to the areas ripped beyond the crest of
the ditch on each side of the excavation. See Task 4, Adjacent Area Topsoil Application.
Soil shall be placed to the specified depth and tracked into the ripped substrate using
heavy equipment. Following tracking, the soil within Ditch 8 shall be hand raked to
achieve a soil surface which is free of humps, dips, rocks or clods. The soil surface
must be uniform, having no topographic variations, and it must be level from side to side
as measured perpendicular to the direction of flow.
Permamat 200F, or approved equivalent, shall be installed over the smooth soil surface.
The mat shall be overlapped, staked, and anchored as specified by the manufacturer,
except as modified below:
9
