planted as soil conditions allow. Firming of the soil will be done so that tree and root systems <br /> are not damaged. After planting, the tree stem shall be erect and free to grow. The tree will not <br /> be weighted down with mud or debris. Firming soil with the heel of the foot is not permitted. <br /> Specific species will be planted in specific areas. PROJECT MANAGER will delineate in the <br /> field which species will be planted in specific locations. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> Measurement for payment shall be made per tree installed and accepted. The percentage of <br /> trees planted and accepted, as determined by the PROJECT MANAGER, will be the basis for <br /> payment. PROJECT MANAGER will inspect a representative number of planting areas and <br /> determine the percentage of trees correctly planted at that area. The percentage of trees <br /> planted and accepted will be applied to the total number of trees provided. The percentage of <br /> trees planted and accepted will be multiplied by the number of trees specified for planting. The <br /> result will determine the total number of trees to be paid at the unit price bid in Item 5 of the Bid <br /> Schedule. Payment will be made only for the price bid in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule, and as <br /> work is completed and approved by PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> TASK 6 SHRUB PLANTING <br /> Shrubs will be planted on the outslopes and at the toe of the outslopes in areas designated by <br /> PROJECT MANAGER. Shrubs will be planted in groups by species. <br /> Shrubs <br /> Containerized shrubs of the following species will be provided by CONTRACTOR: <br /> - Woods Rose (Rosa woodsii) <br /> - Utah Serviceberry (Amelanchier utahensis) <br /> - True Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus) <br /> - Fivepetal Cliffbrush (Jamesia americana) <br /> - Oregon Grape (Mahonia repens) <br /> - Mountain Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata vaseyana) <br /> CONTRACTOR will provide one thousand (1,000) trees per species, a total of 6,000 shrubs. <br /> Acceptable shrubs will be will be delivered in styrofoam or plastic containers. Only one shrub <br /> per container is acceptable. <br /> Shrub Planting <br /> Planting of shrubs will occur in the following manner: <br /> Hand tools <br /> All shrubs will be hand planted. The hand tools used by CONTRACTOR will have a minimum <br /> ten inch (10") length and three inch (3") minimum width planting blade. <br /> Care of shrubs <br /> Shrubs will be protected at all times from drying, heating, smothering, freezing, crushing, <br /> drowning, abrasion, rapid temperature fluctuations, or contact with injurious substances. <br /> 13 <br />
