Reference Area No. 4 and Adjacent Beltline Outslope Areas
CONCLUSIONS
• Control program objectives appear to have been met. Within the reference area, cover of noxious
species was reduced from 41% in 1998 to 2% in 2001.
• A satisfactory vegetation cover has been established (47% cover in 2001), dominated by perennial
grasses. Forb cover and to a lesser extent shrub cover declined over the course of the control program,
but these categories were not major components initially. Over time, nativeforbs and shrubs from
adjacent undisturbed habitats would be expected to become established along this narrow disturbance
corridor.
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Suspend formal monitoring unless conditions change. Perform informal visual reconnaissance
monitoring late May /early June each year.
• Suspend control efforts unless conditions change, or specific problem areas are noted in annual visual
inspections.
• Document any control efforts.
10
