2 . Lab procedures for metals and sampling methods
for ground water.
In the report, the operator needs to describe the type
of laboratory procedure used for metals analysis and describe the
method used to sample ground water wells.
A copy of the ACZ Bookcliff Labs, Steamboat Springs, CO
(303) 879-6260, laboratory procedures is included. All of my
samples go to them. See Attachment #6 .
The ground water wells that are not pumping and all
piezometers are sampled by a thief. This device consists of a
long tube (14" Dia) with a ball check valve on the bottom. It is
lowered in to the casing and a sample of water taken (approximately
1 liter) . The normal procedure has been to not bail out the
casing as the formations in Coal Basin are quite tight and it
would take 24 hours for the water level to recover. All ground
water observation wells have been sampled this way for the last
nine years.
