The
Discharge Monitoring Reports were received by the Division on May 7, 2012. The report covers the time period from
January 1, 2012 through March 31, 2012.
Eleven NPDES outfalls discharged during the first quarter of 2012. According to the report, the primary effluent
limitations were exceeded at six outfalls this quarter (001, 011, 017, 018, 020 and 021). TSS limitations were exceeded in
all six of these outfalls. Iron was exceeded in outfalls 017, 018 and 020. The explanation reported for these exceedances
is snowmelt and or precipitations events resulting from snowfall and rain. Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(ii) requires the Division to
be notified within 5 days after analytical results of the sample collections indicate if noncompliance with a permit
condition or applicable stand has occurred. Overall, this report is in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2) with this one
exception noted above. In the future, please notify the Division within the required timeframe of any exceedances of the
effluent limitations.
The report indicates outfalls 011, 020 and 021 were sampled for WET analyses during the quarter. No exceedances of
WET test limitations were reported at the tested outfalls.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (303) 866 -3567 ext. 8120.
Sincerely,
I rak—
Jared Ebert, DRMS
Environmental Protection Specialist, DRMS
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
