Permit C-81-017.
Water Treatment Plant.
Dear Mr. Crick:
Mid-Continent Resources requests approval of a Technical Revision
(TR-17) to Permit C-81-017 for installation of additional water
treatment facilities.
Our intention is to use these additional water treatment facilities
in conjunction with the 016 pond series to treat mine drainage
water prior to discharge.
Considerable work has been completed, as permitted under MR-23 and
TR-11 and TR-12 , to enhance Mid-Continent's mine water treatment
capabilities. Installation of the proposed system does not require
additional surface disturbance. The pipe extending from the upper
floor of the preparation plant to the 020 pond is the only major
component of the system to be installed which is located outside.
The grit screen will be installed underground; the mine water
treatment plant itself will be installed inside the existing coal
preparation plant. Other components of the system, including the
valve box, tunnel/plant pipeline, 020 and 016 ponds, are already
in place. The flocculant to be used, guar gum, has been permitted
already.
