Supplemental Information
Dear Mr. Crick:
I would like to submit, by this letter, further description of the
system for treatment of mine drainage. This is to supplement the
information submitted to you in my letter of August 17, 1989.
Since my letter in August, we have been in the process of
selecting the manufacturer for our system, and finalizing the
design parameters and system features. The system is designed to
handle mine water flows from an average of 600 gpm up to 1,000
gpm. The system is designed to treat water to meet TSS limits at
discharge. The manufacturer we selected is H2O Engineering, Inc.
The water treatment plant will be located at the preparation plant,
and water flows from the mine through a buried pipeline to the
plant. After treatment, water will be discharged to Coal Creek at
Outfall 028.
Major components of the system include:
Coarse Classifier
Removes larger solids from the flow. This is
also known as the "grit box" and its function
is essentially to allow the larger particles
to settle out before the overflow advances to
the thickener for further solids removal.
1
