Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
Access Road and Tunnel Portal Exploration Area
Page 3
RESULTS : A single artifact, 5GN1780, was located during
the survey. The isolated find, a lightly ground metate,
was found on a slope near a small intermittent drainage
in the proposed portal exploration area.
NATIONAL REGISTER EVALUATION: In the absence of associated
cultural remains, the isolated artifact can provide little
information about local prehistory. We recommend that
it be considered not eligible for the National Register
of Historic Places.
RECOMMENDATIONS: As it appears that no significant cultural
resources will be affected, we recommend that the proposed
projects be allowed to proceed as planned.
References Cited
Buckles , William G. and Nancy B.
1984 Colorado Historical Archaeology Context.
