Supplemental Information
Dear Mr. Crick:
A Surface Area Drainage Plan for the area of the old refuse pile,
including Flood and Runoff Analysis and Sedimentation Pond Design,
was prepared by the David E. Fleming Company. This report is
included in the approved permit in Vol . 3 App. II-B-7 Att. 3 , and
the pertinent map is found in Vol. 3-A, identified as II-B-App. 7
Att. 3 . I'm enclosing as Attachment B copies of portions (page 21,
with Revised Sedimentation Pond Capacities - 1982; relevant
sections of the map) .
Scott Jones calculations of the capacities of the ditches in the
old refuse pile area, based upon field measurements of the old
refuse pile ditches, completed 10/30/89, and the data from the
Fleming Study, show that the ditches on the old refuse pile are
capable of safely passing the 100-year/24 hour storm event and that
no modifications are required. These calculations should be placed
in the approved permit at Vol. 3 , App. II-B-7 Att. 3 .
Concerning the Clean Water Diversion Ditch at the Sutey area refuse
pile, field measurements made on 10/30/89 indicate that the slope
is 3% (rather than 10%, a figure had been submitted previously but
was incorrect) . Scott Jones has reviewed calculations for this
ditch, based on the field measurements made 10/30/89. The correct
100-year flow calculation is 105. 3 cfs, as indicated in our
submission of 4/21/89. The calculations, enclosed as page 6 of the
Attachment, show the ditch to be capable of safely passing the 100
year/24 hour flood event and that no modifications are required.
The applicable calculations, on approval of the Technical Revision,
should be included in Vol. 2 , App. II-B-5.
