Date: March 18, 1993
To: Steve Renner, Tony Waldron, Frank Johnson
From: Dan Hernandez
Re: Meeting of March 11, 1993, Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
The Coal Basin Mine, Permit No. C-81-017
The following is my recollection of the steps the Division and the Attorney General's office
will be taking in the matter of the reclamation of the Coal Basin Mine.
A. The Division will:
1 . Finalize the negotiations with Mid-Continent Resources regarding the operator's
requirements for site reclamation. Request the operator to identify how it
intends to provide funding for the reclamation.
2. Prepare a single document consolidating all the requirements for reclamation
from the revoked permit, various meetings, and applicable Division/operator
correspondence.
3. Provide a copy of this document to the Crystal Valley Environmental Protection
Association for comments. Once comments are provided, the Division will
attempt to accommodate the CVEPA concerns by incorporating all applicable
comments into the reclamation plan.
