exchange for the State dropping whatever claims for relief which it
may have against the Mid-Continent parent and sister corporations.
The negotiations with Sanwa and Mid-Continent are aimed at ensuring
that reclamation of the site is initiated this construction season,
and completed in a reasonably short period of time. Reclamation
will be timed to the extent possible so that it coincides with the
ongoing surface equipment salvage operations.
The Division has recently learned that a Utah corporation, Redstone
Development, may be interested in purchasing the site. It is our
understanding that Redstone wishes to reactivate the permit and
post a reclamation bond with the State. We have informed Mid-
Continent that the Division is interested in working with any party
capable of posting sufficient surety. Although we have been told
that purchase funds and surety assurances have been escrowed, we
have not been contacted by Redstone directly. Therefore, we remain
guardedly optimistic that this scenario will develop to fruition.
CC: Dan Hernandez
Tony Waldron
C: \WP51\MIDCON.sgr
